Waste Management
We have choosen Briers Waste Management (Tamworth) as our responsible waste partner. This is a step change in waste recycling as their core business is "Reverse Logistics" which can be defined as the process of moving wastes from it's typical final landfill destination for the purpose of capturing value through their companies "Re-working, Recycling and Incineration" activities. Over 90% of our manufacturing waste through Briers is recycled.
They were delighted to have received both local and national awards for our efforts to provide "Best Practical Environmental" Solutions for our customers various waste streams.
Their business has been built on providing the best possible service and alternitave disposal methods. This has been the cornerstone of their business for the last three generations and will continue into the future as they discover new ways to recycle, reuse and minimise waste.
Tobacco 'Is good for you'
A sugar-peptide mix from wild tobacco plants could be an effective anti-aging ingredient for cosmetics, according to scientists in Italy.
The mix of short peptides, amino acids and sugars has antioxidant properties as well as promoting collagen synthesis and stability, and upregulating the expression of a number of genes, the study claims.
“Its role in protecting skin cells from premature damage caused by free radicals, as well as its capacity to extend cellular vitality and reinforce the extracellular matrix make the sugar-peptide mixture a very interesting ingredient for anti-aging cosmetics,” lead author Dr Fabio Apone told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.

Featuring in the Salon Magazine (Jan 2010 edition) is the new Reveal Hand Lotion available from Bellitas, which enables salons and training schools to deliver maximum standards of hygiene.
UV tracer suspended in a quality hand lotion is evenly rubbed into the hands. They are then placed in the UV light box to show that the coverage is even. The hands are then washed in the normal way and put back into the UV light box to highlight any areas not properly cleaned.

Make-A-Wish -
A big well done to Sareyah Mustafa, Daniel Wheat and Ibraheim Ali of Scunthorpe in their raising of £141 toward the Telegraphs 'Make a Wish' campaign by doing pamper parties and offering manicures at a small charge. Sareyah's enthusiasm is infectious and it was a pleasure supporting them.
